What is a made to order garment?

A Made to Order garment is one that is made new uniquely for you according to the order you placed. Most of the garments on this website are sold this way, unless otherwise stated. This process of production means that I am able to adjust sizing of the garment to suit your measurements.

I am not sure what size to order. Can you assist?

Order for the size you are today. If you plan on adjusting your weight, do so before you order.

You should consult my sizing chart to select your ideal size. You will be contacted after you have placed your order with a request to provide your measurements. These measurements allow me to make minor fit adjustments to the standard size selected if necessary. For more information regarding sizing and measuring instructions, please visit the sizing page.


If your size is not reflected in the standard sizes offered, please contact me directly to place your order. Take note that inclusive sizing is only offered for Made to Order purchases; Ready to Wear items are only available in the size/s offered and cannot be made in your personal size.

When will I receive my order?

Made to Order garments will go into production after the order has been placed. Please allow a lead time of 12 weeks before the garment ships. If you need the garment sooner you can email me and I will do my best to accommodate you. A rush fee may apply.

Allow 3 – 5 days for Ready to Wear items to be shipped.

How can I track my order?

You will receive a shipment notification email with a tracking number when your order ships. You can email contact@fionamauchan.com if you require an update before this time.

Is my package insured?

All items are insured against theft and accidental damage while in transit from Fiona Mauchan Studio to the shipping address. Once your items have been delivered to the specified delivery address and signed for, they are no longer covered by insurance.


When returning an item either for refund or as part of my BuyBack scheme I strongly suggest insuring the parcel with your own reputable insurance company. Fiona Mauchan Studio can not be held liable for the loss or damage of items in transit back to the studio.

What is your returns policy?

Our returns/exchanges policy depends on the product type, you can find more detail on our Shipping and Returns page.

Where are you located?

Fiona Mauchan Studio is an online store only. Your garment is made and shipped from my private working studio in Swellendam, Western Cape. If you are planning a trip to Swellendam and would like to visit my studio to view a sample you can make a request to visit at least one week in advance.

Do you offer a custom design service?

Yes, from time to time I may take on a custom commission. This service is only available to clients who are able to attend regular fittings at my Swellendam studio. For more information and to request availability please email me directly at conact@fionamauchan.com.

Can I rent a dress from you?

No, I do not rent out dresses. I do sell pre-loved wedding dresses from time to time, that are lower in cost. Alternatively, it is well worth considering purchasing from my Made to Order Conscious Collection; if well cared for, your dress may be eligible for my BuyBack scheme after your wedding.
